Recycled and Sustainable Apparel

The manufacturer of traditional apparel and uniforms consumes a tremendous amount of energy and involves the use of harmful pesticides. The growing of cotton and the manufacture of petroleum based polyester and micro fiber fabrics gobbles up energy and harms our planet in almost every step of the process. In fact, the growing of cotton, while only representing 3% of worldwide crops, represents 25% of the world’s use of pesticides. Harmful pesticides end up in our rivers and oceans doing further harm to our environment.

Eco-Story has worked to develop apparel and uniform products that are more earth friendly than traditional apparel. While many eco-friendly garments cost slightly more than traditional apparel, the economics are changing fast. Eco-Story is currently in development of a new line of uniform garments that will compete with traditional uniforms in price while leaving much less of a polluting footprint on our environment.

Recycled Fleece

Made from Pet fabric, which is produced from recycled plastic bottles. Pet fabric is created by turning plastic bottles into “flakes” which are then spun into a polyester yarn which is then used for clothing, bags, and other products. With the rapid increase of plastic bottles filling our landfills and the amount of energy it takes to produce traditional garments Pet fabric has a lot of promise as a method of reducing energy consumption while producing a high quality product.
